Bijapur Bulls, the 2015 Karnataka Premier League champions have not just been a franchise but someone who would want to make an impact even after the KPL is over. A good example for this is their innovative ideas of having a Bijapur Bulls 'B' team and an under 19 team. We usually see this happening with football teams but a local cricket team having such a setup is rare and really a wonderful move towards developing cricket in Karnataka. Also they have been involved in having a women's T20 league and also the Bijapur Premier League, all of which have benefitted a huge number of budding Cricketers.
CricKarnataka speaks to Kiran Kattimani, the owner of the Bijapur Bulls and here is what he has to say about the team.

How did the KPL 2018 auction go for you ?
Well, the auction had to go our way, because we had been working on the KPL auction for some time and thus the results were on our side.
The Bijapur Bulls franchise are trying to set a platform for the rural and the budding mofussil players. We at Bijapur Bulls don't believe in buying heroes, instead we create heroes, keeping that in mind, we went into the auction and every year we have been producing good Cricketers, and we continue to do so. And after a decade of KPL, we have a balanced side and we are hoping to give our best.

What are your preparations for this year's KPL, tell us about that.
We have already kickstarted the Net sessions and also have been working on some match simulations.
Most importantly, we have a Bijapur Bulls 'B' team and an under 19 team who were sleected from the catchment area and the zonal areas. These teams are no less and are giving a tough fight for the main team and this is in the true spirit of the game.
One of the important things about this is that, 2 players from these teams would be selected and they would go on to join the main team and I believe, with all these plans we should be the best this year.

Tell us about winning the tournament back in 2015, how does it feel like, to be winning a tournament.
Wearing the Championship belt in 2015 was a very good feeling but more importantly when we see that our players like R Samarth and other who have come up through the Bijapur Bulls franchise are today at playing at bigger stages, be it IPL or the Indian team, it gives me immense pleasure, in way that my own kids have achieved it.
I do not believe in luck and the only way to succeed is by hardwork and I always ask my boys to work hard everyday.

Do you have any message that you would want to give to the youngsters.
The most important thing is discipline. And this has to go hand in hand with the sport and there is a lot to learn from the team trainer, physio, coach, mentor and you got to utilize everything that you get here and try to be a better player.
