Yes, being part of the Mumbai Indians team was a very special thing for me and I would like to thank the KSCA for giving us this opportunity. The Karnataka Premier League was the platform for reaching that spot.
Speaking about the experience in KPL, It is something that I can say to myself that I was part of such a big league and it was a good learning experience, it actually brought about a few improvements in the way I played the game.

Tell us about your journey in the KPL.
In 2015, I was in the probables list for the Hubli Tigers and I wasn't picked initially. But later I was picked as a replacement for KL Rahul and even our then captain Sreenath Arvind left for national duties and it was a young team which was left out. But we played well as a team and managed to reach the finals of that season. That season I had good peformances and I believe that to be my best KPL season.

Kishore Kamath while playing for Hubli Tigers in 2015

How does it feel coming to this new franchise the 'Shivamogga Lions', what are you expecting here.
Well, in my whole of KPL career, I have been part of different teams starting from Hubli Tigers in 2015, then the Mangalore United in 2016. Later I was part of the KPL 2017 winning team the Belagavi Panthers. This season I'm again in a new team, the Shivamogga Lions.
This is a quality side and the team owner has been very supportive, this team reached the semis last year and I will be hoping that it continue the same and go on to win the tournament.

Take us through your childhood and your early cricketing days.
During my childhood, it was a habit for me to wake up early everyday and go to practice with my dad. My dad was also a  Cricketer and he played Ranji Trophy for Goa. So he was always my inspiration for cricket.
Apart from cricket, I was good at studies and I scored 90 percent in my 10 standard exam and I was enrolled for science in my pre university. But as time passed, I just couldn't cope us with studying science and play sports, but my dad stood by me and he helped me change my stream to commerce. My dad always believed that I would make it big in cricket and on the other hand my mom always wanted me to be more focused on studies. My brother was also a Cricketer and he had represented Karnataka in the under 13s and under 15s, so the family support was always there.
Coming to my professional cricket career, I was in the under 19 probables and later I played for Karnataka under 25 team as well.

Tell us about your association with the Kannada Chalanachitra Cup, what is the feeling being there.
Kannada Chalanachitra Cup is a rare and unique initiative which brings in cricket and film industry together. And Kiccha Sudeep sir has done an amazing job of having a league of such kind.
In the first season of the tournament, I was part of the Vijayanagara Patriots that won the tournament under the actor Shivrajkumar.
This season I will be playing for the Rastrakuta Panthers, which would also have international cricketer Owais Shah. So overall its a great tournament to be part of, and we are glad that we got this opportunity.

What's your opinion on CricKarnataka.
Well, in era of sport, social media plays a very huge role in the promoting of upcoming talents. I have seen that you have been doing a good job and it's a very good platform for local and emerging Karnataka players to introduce themselves to the people. It is beacuse of initiatives like these, that people get to know about the Cricketers personal life , journey and struggles that they have gone through. So wish you all the best. Doing a great job. Keep up the work.
