With the CricKarnataka Exclusive interviews, we got to meet a lot of cricketers and everyone of them had started cricket with the tennis ball and now are part of the professional leather ball cricket. But here is someone who started with tennis ball cricket, later played leather ball cricket at India's highest level domestic tournaments and still continues to play tennis ball Cricket at local tournaments where he emerges as team best in almost every tournament that he plays.
CK Akshay who has represented the Indian Railways cricket team in the T20 and the One day team, has won so many awards from tennis ball cricket that now his house is almost filled with trophies and here is a fact which is that many times when he has won prizes individually, he has given it away to people around. And if all that is counted together then the number reaches a big figure.

Now you might have a fair idea about CK Akshay and here is some light on his early life and start of Cricket.
CK Akshay hails from Hassan district of Karnataka and he started playing tennis ball Cricket at very young age and was pretty impressive with his batting skills. He caught the attention of locals and one of them suggested him that he should be playing leather ball cricket and that's when Akshay started his career in leather ball cricket.

After joining the cricket academy in Hassan.
Akshay after joining the academy, excelled even in leather ball cricket and soon he was playing for his college team and also played for the Mysore University. Back then the team was led my Mysuru Warriors dashing batsman Manjunath SP. Under his captaincy the team played the all India university cricket tournament, also others playing along with him were Manjesh Reddy of Mysuru Warriors and later all of them went to play for the railways department. He also played for the Shivamogga zone in the under 19s and the under 22s

Career in tennis ball cricket...
In 2008 although Akshay was playing leather ball cricket, he was also playing tennis ball tournament. The financial conditions of his family wasn't very good and it happened to be that once he had to sell his Yamaha Apache that he had won in one of the tournaments. Once while playing in one of the tennis ball tournament in Hassan, he was spotted by the NASH Cricketers team which is a big name in tennis ball Cricket. They asked Akshay to move to Bangalore so that he can play for them and that's how Akshay reached Banagalore. He stayed with his NASH teammates in Bangalore and continued to play division cricket here.

In the last season he was again picked by the Belagavi Panthers but he couldn't play for them as he had some job commitments with his employer the Indian Railways.

Thanks to his good performances in the Railways interzonal tournament, he was picked to play for the Indian Railways in the Syed Mustaq Ali trophy in 2013 and went on to play 7 T20S for them. A striking right handed batsman and also as a handy right arm off break bowler he picked up the wicket of the mighty Suresh Raina in his very first match in the Syed Mustaq Ali playing against Uttar Pradesh. He was also part of the one day team but couldn't get a chance to play. After that he has been part of the Railways camp for many years now and continues to play for the Rail Wheel Factory team.
