KSCA ( karnataka state cricket association) recently announced the appointment of new chief coach and assistant coach for the Karnataka State senior cricket team.
Railways cricket team's, legendary batsman Yere Goud and former Indian and karnataka Pacer Sreenath Arvind were selected as the main coach and the deputy respectively. Here is a breif introduction to the team's new coaches.
Yere Goud was one of the few Indian cricketers to play 100 Ranji matches. Indian Pacer Javagal Srinath once regarded him as the Rahul Dravid of Railways team.
Yere Karekal Thippana Goud was born on 27 November 1971. He played for Karnataka and Railways in the ranji trophy.
He was primarily a right-handed batsman.
He made his debut for Karnataka in 1994.
later in 1995, he moved to Railways where he won 2 Ranji trophies and , 3 Irani trophies with them.
He also won Duleep Trophy playing for Central Zone.
In 2006-07 he returned to Karnataka to captain them, but the BCCI banned Yere Goud for making a comeback to the state team without the consent of the board.
So he again moved back to Railways to play till 2011 for them.
He was one of those luck players who were very successful in domestic circuit with 7650 runs at an impressive average of 45.53 and another 1051 runs in List A career ,and still the BCCI was least bothered to get Yere goud a place in the national team he was never selected for the Indian national team.
Now he is all ready and the KSCA has taken a very good decision to name him as the chief coach of Karnataka state team.
Sreenath Arvind being selected as the assistant coach for the team was a bit of a surprise for everyone considering that he is still playing in the division 1 matches. Although he announced his retirement recently, he is active in the KSCA division 1 Cricket league. He is a very talented bowler who has been an absolute gem for the Karnataka fast bowling attack. He was also part of the Royal Challengers Bangalore for a long time and was considered as one of the main pacers in the past. He was instrumental in getting his team RCB till the finals where the team eventually lost to the Mumbai Indians where he was the leading wicket taker. This even earned him a India team callup ,but he could seal his place there. However in 2018 he announced retirement from all forms of cricket and now it's a very good opportunity for Sreenath Arvind as well as he know the team very well than anyone else, he has been part of the team till very recently and his bonding with the team mates will certainly be a positive factor for the team.
We hope these two Karnataka cricket legends bring out the best, out of our Karnataka team.
